The war hero third from right is a man named Frank Sleeman, who as a child drank from the Zillman Waterholes, and thus gained the power and strength that enabled him to survive 4 years in a Japanese POW camp during WW2, and emerge to become the Lord Mayor of Brisbane.

Frank and his beloved wife Norma – who waited faithfully for him throughout the war – were both close friends of the Butterfly clan, and staunch supporters of the Geebung RSL.

His sacrifice will never be forgotten in this neck of the woods.

They just don’t make politicians like this anymore.
